Prop Challenge Calculator

Your prop firm's rules as numbers you can trade by: the limits in money, how many losses in a row fit in a day, what the target takes, the Best Day rule and your position size. Plain arithmetic - no predictions.

Challenge rules
Rules from FTMO's official page, read 27 Sep 2026. Firms change rules - check before you trade.

Your plan
%
Loss at your stop, as % of the starting balance.
: 1
2 = take-profit twice as far as the stop.
R
Spread + commission ÷ stop. 1 pip on a 10-pip stop = 0.1.
%
Only used for the average-case line. Leave empty if you don't know it.
Position size from your symbol's specification
In MetaTrader 5: right-click the symbol in Market Watch → Specification. Use your broker's values; they differ between brokers.
Where is my account now?
Balance plus open trades' profit/loss.
The limits in money
Phase 1 profit target
Balance of $110,000 or more
$10,000
Phase 2 profit target
Balance of $105,000 or more
$5,000
Max daily loss
Equity may not go below today's reset balance minus this.
$5,000
Max loss
Equity may never go below $90,000.
$10,000
Fewest trading days to pass a phase
The firm's minimum trading days.
4
Your plan against the limits
Risk per trade
$1,000
Losses in a row that fit in one day
Your worst planned day (3 losses) loses $3,000, 60% of the daily limit.
4
Losses in a row before the max loss
Counted from the start balance. A loss that would land exactly on a limit is not counted - it leaves no room for slippage.
9
What the target takes
Winning trades with no losses - phase 1
One win pays $2,000.
5
Winning trades with no losses - phase 2
3
Break-even win rate
Below this, at 2:1 the average trade loses money.
33.3%

How it is calculated

Risk per trade
account size × risk %
Full loss / full win
risk × (1 + costs) / risk × (target:risk − costs), costs in R
Losses that fit
the most full losses that keep equity above the limit; a loss landing exactly on it is not counted
Winning trades needed
profit target ÷ full win, rounded up
Break-even win rate
(1 + costs) ÷ (1 + target:risk)
Average result per trade
p × (target:risk − costs) − (1 − p) × (1 + costs), in R, at your win rate p
Best Day rule
best day ≤ the rule's share of all winning days' profit (50% at FTMO 1-Step), so at 50% a day of D needs at least D more from other winning days
Volume
risk ÷ (stop ÷ tick size × tick value), rounded down to the volume step

MT5 automation and Prop Guard

Optional layers for MetaTrader 5 on Windows: act on signals automatically if you want to, and protect the account whether you trade our signals, your own ideas or both. What the first version is planned to do:

  • ✦Take a signal yourself, semi-automatically or fully automatically - you choose, per signal or per module.
  • ✦Automation follows your own settings: risk per trade, broker, trading hours and your prop firm's rules.
  • ✦Every order it sends is checked first against your risk and prop rules. If a trade would break them, it tells you why instead of sending it.
  • ✦Live distance to your daily and overall loss limits, with warnings; only if you switch it on, it closes positions that would cross a limit.
  • ✦Position size from your broker's symbol specification, and a journal of every trade with the account state at the time.

Nothing is automatic unless you turn it on. Beta testers use it free during the beta. Tell us your prop firm so we build its rules first.

Questions

How does FTMO measure the daily loss limit?

FTMO recalculates it every day at 00:00 CE(S)T: the day's starting balance minus 5% (2-Step) or 3% (1-Step) of the initial capital. Your equity - balance plus open trades' profit or loss, swaps and commissions - may not drop below it.

What is the FTMO Best Day Rule?

Your best day may not be more than 50% of the profit of all your positive days. FTMO lists it for the 1-Step Challenge and the 1-Step FTMO Account; the 2-Step objectives have no best-day rule. FTMO does not treat going over it as a breach: you keep trading until the ratio holds.

Is the max loss static or trailing?

On the 2-Step it is static: the initial capital minus 10%. On the 1-Step it trails at the end of the day: the highest previous closing balance minus 10% of the initial capital, and it only moves up.

Why doesn't the calculator show my chance of passing?

A pass probability needs a model that has been checked against real challenge results, and we do not have one. Everything here is arithmetic from your inputs and the firm's rules, so you can check every number yourself.

Which firms are included, and are you affiliated with them?

FTMO (2-Step, 1-Step), The5ers High Stakes, FundedNext Stellar 2-Step, FundingPips 2-Step Standard, E8 Classic and Alpha Capital Alpha Pro 8% / 10% - each preset uses the firm's own published rules, with a link to the page. We are not affiliated with any prop firm; they are named only to say whose rules a preset uses. For any other firm, choose Custom.

Do you store what I type?

No. The calculations run in your browser. We count page views and first use of the calculator anonymously - no cookies and nothing stored on your device - to learn whether the tool is useful.

Each preset links to the firm's official rules page; all were read on 27 Sep 2026 and every value was checked against the page text. Firms change their rules; check the current version before you trade. An educational tool, not financial advice. Trading involves risk of loss.
